AYURVEDA- the Science of Living and Sister Science of Yoga, offers a comprehensive system of health and well~being that empowers Women & Men to embrace and cultivate their inner healer through individualized diet, yoga and mindful practices.

 

What is Ayurveda? 

Ayurveda, The Science of Life (or Daily Living), is the Sister Science of Yoga, and the traditional system of medicine in India.  It originated approximately 3,000 years ago in the Indus and Saraswati river valleys, and serves as a brilliant and comprehensive way of caring for oneself.  Focusing largely on nutrition, the entire person and their environment is considered when developing a plan of care.  Differing from the approach of Western medicine, which focuses singularly on a presenting complaint or problem, in Ayurveda the milieu of the patient is considered at large, resulting in a comprehensive plan that addresses predominant imbalances to curtail ailments and the development of disease.  This article features insight from one of my teachers, Dr. Stuart Rothenberg, and beautifully explains why Ayurveda is an essential science and art of great healing.

 

What happens during Ayurveda consultation and coaching?

Once you have booked your appointment, you will receive a health history form that you will need to complete prior to our meeting.  The form is comprehensive and includes your medical and surgical history, your family medical history, your current diet and sleep patterns and habits, as well as what concerns you have and goals you have set.  The completed form will be reviewed prior to your appointment and will serve as a guide for our initial visit.

Upon our first meeting we will summarize the form, identify your prakruti (individual constitution), your vikruti (nature of imbalances) and establish a working plan that will encompass reflecting on and reviewing recommendations for daily living utilizing Ayurveda recommendations for diet, exercise, yoga and self care. The remainder of the appointment may include therapeutic yoga or guided relaxation based on the needs of the client.

 

Ayurveda lifestyle counseling includes a Wellness Plan with:

  • Your personalized dietary plan.

  • Seasonal, situational and environmental concerns specific for you.

  • Movement practices, including yoga.

  • Personalized daily rituals that support well-being.

  • Recommended pranayama/Breathing exercises for your support.

  • Therapeutic yoga, abhyanga/warmed oil massage or guided relaxation based on the needs of the client.

  • A Meditation practice

Email follow-up is included with your Ayurvedic Consultations, which includes your detailed plan. Subsequent appointments are scheduled to continue to foster growth and wellness through consultation and private yoga therapy.  Follow up visits will continue to review and adapt the plan and therapies based on client’s needs.  I look forward to serving you on the path to optimizing your natural health.
